We had our deck and railings replaced 7 years ago by Midtown Home Improvements and the decking they installed failed because of de-lamination. The Zuri decking manufacturer offered to replace the decking but we would have to pay freight and labor, which was really the larger part of the total cost. We didn’t want to work with the original company again so we had bids with other companies. Rick Miller the owner of STL Outdoor Living came out and we found him to be knowledgeable and very informative, so we decided to contract with him to do the work. The crew that came out the day the project started was really on the ball and Rick came to the job site the first morning to meet with the crew as well. When they tore the original decking off, they found that the flashing against the house was upside down and not nailed in place and the 4″ x 4″ railing posts were all loose and attached with bolts that had loosened because wood contracts with age and there was no blocking around them. Rick’s team blocked all the posts thoroughly and reinstalled the flashing the correct way. The crew went over the top in the installation. They exceeded our expectations on the new deck. We would recommend them with the highest certainty that Rick will make sure you get what you’re paying for.
